So last month there was a double homicide about a half mile up the road from us. Eventually more details came out, and it turned out to be an armed robbery gone wrong (robbed guy shot robber #1, robber #2 shot robbed guy, robber #2 is a minor).
Last weekend a sheriff's deputy was killed in a car/bike accident just outside of town, on a road I've often biked (closest intersection is my favorite winery - lots of fruit wine). Heard sirens that morning.
Yesterday, woke up to a news story about KU student found murdered. I refreshed the story way to often, as little details dribbled in. Seems to be ended, as the suspect was apprehended in New Jersey, then hung himself.
While checking up on details of the latest murder, read a stories about another armed robbery (no killing) a block from the one last month and a body found by the tracks (the ones in North Lawrence). Add all this to liquor store robberies, a mysterious self inflicted wounds story (a half mile the other way), and a one man fatal motorcycle accident... I really need to stop reading the local newspaper.
