The aftermath of each death is different. As Nora's death wasn't unexpected, we're taking our time dealing with the necessary tasks.

Lawnchair and I spent Thursday returning our house to normal. Solan went out to lunch with us, making sure we remembered to eat. Our neighbors figured out what was up when they saw the hospital bed taken away.

Friday we dropped off our first load to Goodwill and headed out west. There's a number of tasks Lawnchair hadn't done previously, as nobody wanted to admit that Nora wasn't coming back. So we canceled cable TV and cleaned out the fridge. We also paid for an obit and set a date for the funeral. The date is in a couple of weeks, as Easter week is busy for the church and we don't want to make people hurry.

We also wanted to rehome the last of Nora's cats. She'd had four of them. Her favorite one, Buddy, came with her. He did a good job integrating with our lot, so we're keeping him. Shaggers only moved in for food and warmth, so he moved out to a local farm. Orca was old, and was put to sleep (she was arthritic and blind and territorial). Which leaves Deliliah.

We didn't see her yesterday, but she came in for food in the middle of the night. After a bit of coaxing, she was excited to see people she knew. Lawnchair caught her this morning, and we've got her in a crate. We'll take her to the vet soon, and run her north to my parents. I don't want to subject her to two long drives, or leave her on her own until the funeral. She's very unhappy, and it is going to be a long drive.
