Ignorance Pisses Me Off

Twice in the last day I've noticed dye educators (who should know better) claim that natural dyeing is better because you don't use chemicals.

Wrong. Natural dying uses chemicals. Almost every recipe I've seen uses mordants - metal salts. I'm starting to learn the danger of metals in water. And what do you think makes the colors? The spirit of the plant. In reality, it is the chemicals in plants. Non-pure chemicals. And we just discard the leftovers, unlike the chemical plant that makes chemical dyes, which is regulated in how its wastes are disposed off.
