Whee! I Have Electricity, Now I Can Sleep

Woke up around 3:30, warm. Not unusual at all, I get warm around then just about every night. But streaming BBC on the ipod wouldn't work. I woke up more and realized I didn't have internet. And then I realized that fan wasn't running and neither was the AC.

And I was still overly warm. Few things are worse for my brain function than sleepy and warm. Eventually I got myself to the bathtub with a few inches of cold water and my ipod, playing "Wait, wait, don't tell me" and solitaire. That amused me for a little over an hour. Then I used the night light (which turns into a flashlight when it loses power) to read.

After I finished my book I was starting to be cool enough to try to sleep again. So I went to bed. And told Lawnchair that the power was out. Well, that woke him up. I followed him as he investigated my findings. And then the power came back. I'm thinking I will go back to bed now.

Heat and Cool, Expected and Unexpected

Tomorrow we get the last of the big expenses we planned when bought the house, the wood stove insert for the fireplace. We ended up deciding to pay for installation. More cost, but done faster and done right (and that makes the house insurance company happier).

However, it is hard to feel I need such a thing in this weather. Especially since my central AC is down. Possibly because the repairman put in the wrong size capacitor (according to Lawnchair's research). So we have a new capacitor (and the hard start kit the repairman recommended) on order from the internet (because the local places do not sell to the general public). I miss the rest of the house. I miss cooking.

But I'll be warm this winter. Even if the electricity goes off.
