Jan. 26th, 2010 10:43 amSo I'm cruising around esty, looking at drop spindles for no good reason. One of them has a "blue sandstone" whorl. Umm.. no. That's blue GOLDstone, otherwise known as glass with sparklies. Unless it has a high mica content (which is rare because mica is not a stable mineral and rarely lasts long enough to make it into sedimentary rocks), sandstone does not sparkle like that.
ETA: Seller did correctly ID the criniod fossils in this spindle. Even called them sea lilies.
