I've seen several posts this morning about today being Ada Lovelace Day, or blog about women excelling in tech. Because it is an area of interest, I can think of several. But the one I want to mention is the one I ignored because I focused on what else she is known for.

Rear Admiral Grace Hopper. I first learned about Adm Hopper because she had a DDG named after her. I knew she was the first female admiral, but I didn't know why. Somewhere I assumed she was staff or supply.

Nope. Computers. She joined the USNR in WW2 (as many did), taking a leave of absence from Vasser (where she taught math). She runs through the history of computers for the rest of her life. She retired several times, and was brought back from retirement. When she retired for the last time, she was the oldest serving officer.

I can drink tea or coffee, not both. I bought the leftover creamer and sugar from Naka's consuite, and brought it to the office. This makes hot caffiene drinks way to tempting. I caught myself buzzing through my lips just because I liked the sensation. Damn drugs.
