It helps to imagine under what conditions a man would be swimming at, say, the same Reynolds number as his own sperm.
-E.M. Purcell, Life at Low Reynolds Number

In other news, I got a wetsuit from ebay for less than $20. Still watching kayaks. Going to go cook mushroom barley soup. Here's hoping it turns out well.

This article,http://www.guardian.co.uk/salon/story/0,14752,1310163,00.html, originally written for Salon.com has me thinking. Despite never being injured in the Navy, I did manage to see quite a bit of how the medical system works. Or doesn't. Some of the gripes in the article are legitimate. Some are not. And the article ignores levels of complexity. My biggest gripe is that how the Navy ignores the injured and or disabled leads to self pity. The system takes people who have been conditioned to think of themselves as part of a functioning unit and tells them they are useless. The support structure is wrenched away. Suddenly you have to navigate the bureaucracy yourself, and nobody understands it. It is awfully hard to go back to being a ah happy little grunt after that. There are no easy answers, so it is not thought about. Under the rug.

Have I mentioned that I am happy I am out of it all now? And why I am not eager to go work?
