Tired, but Happy
Sep. 5th, 2004 01:51 pmI really need spread out my exercising. Yesterday I went the KC Irish Fest. I spent the afternoon lounging, half listening and chatting with Tom. I hate Kansas summers, you would think I would have learned. To much heat and humidity for being this far north. Thankfully it was cooling down when Young Dubliners came on. Awesome show. After not being that enthused about the other bands, I did not expect much. Then I realized the critical difference. Modern rock is a nice addition. Chaz, the bald fiddle/synth/other random instrument player is apparently a local boy. And if I hadn't already planned to head out to C&C's for camping tonight, I would have tried to convince Tom that we really needed to drive to Dubuque to see them tonight. A hoppy, dancing crowd quickly formed up front, but I stood behind most of the sitting crowd so I could see them, until towards the end when I couldn't stop dancing any more, and headed up front. Tried to take a picture, but none turned out that well. So I jumped up and down for the last four songs. It is what I needed.
So this morning I agreed to go on Tom's traditional Sunday morning bike ride. Well, what he does when he isn't going to church. I still haven't been talked into that one. My parents taught me to well, even the unitarians are to organized a religion for me. They have their creed printed onto cards.
So we biked south out of town. About halfway through he offered me the choice of the shorter route to Eudora, or a random point in Douglas county. I had to prove how in shape I am, so choose the longer route. So I biked 21 miles this morning. And this is not the flat part of Kansas. Legs are sore. But I proved my physical skills. I may not be in great aerobic shape, and not have massive thighs, but I have endurance and stubbornness. The bike trip down part of the Kady trail is still on, though has to careful scheduled since I want take a road trip to Minnesota and Wisconsin and a flight out to Halifax.
