I Can Complete Something

I'm leaving for Anime St. Louis tomorrow, and competing in my first ever cosplay contest Saturday (yes, that is a hint to wish me luck). It is a group, so I can blend in. However, due to the skill of the other costume makers in the group, competing at master level. Eep!

Slowly coming together. Wig is done (except last minute styling). Belt and dangly are done. Undershirt is done except for fake undersleeves, as I almost out of white thread. Overdress is where most of the work is still needed, mostly on the decorations. Need to finish couching, and then sew on decorated panel. Need to finish last steps on sleeve strips. Neck is funky, so advice will be asked on that. And hemming dress of doom. Doable, right?

Maybe I'll go and pack.

I'm all packed, and excited. Doing this competition bit is new for me. Hoping I have enough time tomorrow to get to a couple of panels, especially the feminism in fandom one.

Well, I haven't packed yet. I may still work on that tonight or in the morning. (Who needs sleep anyway, it's a con weekend afterall! :-) Actually some (most?) of the stuff I need to pack is already packed (the stuff for the room party) since it is still packed from the last con/room party. I just need to get that stuff in the car. Most of the packing is going to be pieces of my costume and props, sewing stuff (I'll have white thread if you need some when we get there), and regular clothes and such.

I'm just finishing up pieces (beard, mustasche). I'm going to be bringing with me the parts for the throne and putting that together there. If I have time and/or need a break, I'll put more details on my journal. (I'm taking a break now while I'm waiting for the latex to dry) I can't wait to see how everything looks all together.

I'll see you all in a little over 12 hrs!!!

I'm going with a group doing characters from Saiunkoku (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saiunkoku)
There aren't that many female characters, so I decided to cosplay a 13 year old schizophrenic genuis named To Eigetsu. (http://affreca.com/photos/eigetsu/)

I highly recommend the anime if you haven't seen it. Unfortunately, only the first two DVDs of episodes were released before Geneon left the business.

Not as energetic as I usually think of hyper. But very focused. I kinda didn't get around to eating lunch until 2, because I had to finish the next little thing before I stopped. Thankfully, I'd finally gotten FMP on DVD, so that carried me through.

Thanks for the offer, I found some. Damn cat (http://affreca.com/cats06/slides/12.html) loves knocking my box of thread of the desk, which means I can never find what I want.

I don't have that problem with my dog. However I do have a problem things getting "lost" because of the disorder/amount of stuff I have (damn entropy! :-) So things sometimes get buried/misplaced.

Now to finish pack, load, and get on the road. Target is noon but up to 2pm will still get me there by a reasonable time.

Oh, disorder is pretty great here, however, I sorted my sewing stuff in prep for the swap (and sorted the stash again putting new stuff away).

My paperback collection is the next trouble spot to organize. It has been over a year since I've reshelved everything, so there's a couple of hundred books stacked up out of order. Probably will discover a couple of duplicates while shelving. (Wish I had a cuecat, so I could scan the ISBNs and making librarything faster).
