1 can chickpeas
1 tsp toasted sesame oil
2 tsp minced garlic from jar
2 tsp lemon juice
good shakes of paprika and chili powder

Dump in blender. Blend for several minutes. Serve with toasted pita.

I started doing minced garlic from a jar again. I got tired of peeling the cloves and mincing them individually. In theory they are better, but I no longer care. I will only suffer so much for the culinary arts, and garlic is giving me hand cramps.

I've finally figured out how to get pita at home almost as good. Grecian Delight is the brand to buy (sold at the tasty cheese counter in HyVee, next to the cheese curds.. numm.. cheese curds....). Toast it on each side in your frying pan (with minimal coat of olive oil). Not exactly the same, but vaguely cheaper, and don't have to be tempted by the rest of Mad Greek's food.

It depends on the flavor I'm going for. The hummus works better with the sweet already roasted stuff you get in a jar. Also, cutting garlic makes me cry.
