Apt hunting and house hunting are frustrating! Especially in college towns...I will send thoughts your way...best way is to luck out and find someone that personally owns the property and is renting it without urgency, waiting for the right person to respect the property! I know you are on a time limit, but, I also know you will find something that will work for you! and I don't know about everyone else but I am not buying the 'maybe i just want to be involve in grep and grok..'
